See the finished facility before it is finished
The fly-through takes you around and through the completed building: the long-span hangar, the crew and technical accommodation, the training spaces and the control tower overlooking the apron and Portland Harbour. For a project still under construction, it is the clearest way to show what is being built and why.
From render to reality
On site, the building is now recognisable from the video. The steel frame is up, the envelope and its distinctive orange cladding are on, and work is moving through glazing and internal fit-out. Photographs of current progress are on our HeliOperations hangar project page.
Why a fly-through earns its keep
- One shared picture – client, design team, contractor and specialist subcontractors all work towards the same finished building.
- Faster decisions – finishes, colours and interfaces are easier to agree when everyone can see them in context.

Our role at Portland
Rockall Projects acts for HeliOperations as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor and Contract Administrator, controlling programme, cost and the JCT building contract from pre-construction through to handover. The facility will support search and rescue (SAR) and military helicopter training for UK and overseas clients, on the site of the former Royal Naval Air Station.
