How accurate is 3D laser scanning?
A registered Leica RTC360 point cloud is typically accurate to within a few millimetres across a building. We agree the tolerance that matters for your use before surveying and state it in the handover notes.
How long does a scan take?
A typical 500 to 1,500 m² building is captured in one site day. Registration and QA follow within 48 hours. Drawings or BIM models take from a few days to a few weeks depending on the level of detail.
How is 3D laser scanning priced?
We quote per project. Price is driven by floor area, complexity, the level of detail you need (point cloud, 2D drawings or BIM) and access. Send us the address, the areas and what the data is for and we will quote within one working day.
Do you need scaffolding or a site closure?
No. Terrestrial scanning is non-contact and works around occupants. Roofs and high facades are captured by drone under our CAA GVC authorisation.
Can you work from a point cloud we already have?
Yes, subject to a check of coverage and quality for the areas and outputs required.
Do you only work in Hampshire and Dorset?
No. Hampshire, Dorset and the South Coast are our base, and we have an office in London, but we take on scanning and scan-to-BIM projects anywhere in the UK.
